Ever heard of geocaching? It's basically a huge worldwide treasure hunt where people hide small containers (caches) anywhere and post the coordinates on a community site for others to find. You can go out and look for these whenever. Caches range from jam-jar-large to under-a-bottlecap-tiny. They contain a log, and if big enough, some goodies. If you want to take the item(s), you have to trade something of equal or lesser value.

Anyway, adaptations for Minecraft. I'd like to do this on the server, so here are the
Guidelines:
-Anyone can place a cache, so as long as you are allowed to place it there (get permission if in towns).
-Caches can be made out of chests and/or item frames, and should contain at least a writable book as a log.
-If you place a cache, please give the general coords (doesn't need to be exact, but they should be ~20-blocks-close) and size (Large = chest, Medium = multiple frames, Small = 1 frame). Give it a name or number if you want to.
-Caches should be visible from aboveground, or hidden under something semi-obvious. Please don't hide caches 10 blocks underground; we don't want to have to excavate to find them.
-Be creative! Caches should be fun/challenging to place as well as find.

(I intend this to replace the Treasure Hunting - I'm too tired [lazy] to put out new treasure deposits.)

Here's an example of some cache listings (just placed them).

Getting Your Feet Wet
Cache H0001 (# is arbitrary and optional; the "H" is for Hearthfire)
Approx. Location: (235x, -168z)
Size: Large

A chest located in the bay in Hearthfire.

Hint:
Spoiler:
Look under the bridge

Cerberus Hill
Cache C0002
Approx. Location: (1107x, 1275z)
Size: Medium

On the hill in the center of New Cerberus. This cache consists of two frames in an exposed hole, one for the log and one for the items.

Hint:
Spoiler:
East side of the hill

Two more:

Big Catch
Cache H0002
Approx. Location: (20x, -231z)
Size: Large

A chest hidden by the fishing dock next to The Flaming Migion.

Hint:
Spoiler:
It's a half-bridge. Need I say more?

Snow Cover
Cache H0003
Approx. Location: (70x, -85z)
Size: Small

Just a log stashed out in the woods. Good luck finding this one! It's actually been out there for quite some time, but no one's found it yet.

Hint:
Spoiler:
Look in the trees
